LifeSize¢â Delivers Industry's First High Definition Audio Conference Phone |
| |
Breakthrough Beam Forming Technology in LifeSize Phone¢â Enables Crystal Clear Conversations for Case Western Reserve University and QuadraMed
LifeSize, the high definition video communications company, today announced the availability of LifeSize Phone, a high definition audio conference phone that delivers revolutionary audio quality and room coverage. QuadraMed, a leading healthcare information technology provider based in Reston, VA, selected LifeSize Phone for its exceptional sound capacity so everyone participating in audio conferences can be heard clearly.
"Our business success relies on remote communications and requires us to spend a lot of time conducting audio conferences," said Chris Van Waters, QuadraMed CIO. "We anticipate that the quality of the LifeSize Phone will be one of the biggest factors in driving the user-perceptible ROI of our upcoming VoIP deployment. The obvious quality improvement will be readily apparent to all of my users, and this improvement in the human experience was the reason we chose the LifeSize solution."
Powered by 16 always-on microphones, along with a patent-pending Circular Microphone Array and beam forming technology, the LifeSize Phone provides high directivity and twice the room coverage over existing audio conferencing devices. Through high fidelity voice compression algorithms, a specially designed titanium speaker driver and a custom tuned enclosure, LifeSize Phone reduces unwanted noise and distortion so that everyone in the room can be clearly understood.
As an early evaluator of LifeSize Phone, Lev Gonick, Vice President of Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer of Case Western Reserve University, stated, "LifeSize Phone has an incredibly deep, rich audio sound. It is refreshing to listen to someone speaking on the far end where you can actually hear every word without straining. Also, LifeSize Phone allows all participants to speak in their normal conversational tone, making meetings less exhausting and more productive."
LifeSize Phone is currently available for IP environments and can be used in conjunction with Cisco's popular IP PBX, Cisco CallManager [NASDAQ: CSCO]. This allows users to seamlessly dial phone numbers while using an IP phone. LifeSize Phone can also be used in any conference room or office with standard PSTN connectivity by using an optional Phone Interface Module (PIM), which will be available in October.
"Those that have heard LifeSize Phone have proclaimed what a remarkably enhanced level of audio it projects. Remote conference attendees sound like they are actually in the room, not in the phone," said Craig Malloy, CEO of LifeSize. "We set out to overhaul decades old audio conferencing technology and are pleased to deliver the very highest quality conference phone that the market has ever experienced."
LifeSize Phone is offered at a list price of $1,199 (IP) and $1,399 (PSTN), and provides users with:
¤ýBetter Input - 2X the room coverage so all participants can be heard clearly no matter where they are seated, and higher directionality designed to block ambient sound from projectors, air conditioners and other noisy devices
¤ýBetter Algorithms - Super wide-band audio at 16 kHz for uncompromised audio quality
¤ýBetter Output - Titanium speaker driver and custom tuned enclosure deliver 10X lower distortion for better intelligibility
¤ýFlexible Connectivity - VoIP, PSTN or video integration for adapting to various network environments
During the week of September 19th, LifeSize will be showcasing LifeSize Phone at both the Fall 2005 Internet2 Member Meeting in Philadelphia and AV in the City in London. For an online audio experience, visit www.lifesize.com/products/lifesize_phone/.
